Answers to Chapter 2 Critical Thinking Question

How is the atom like our solar system?

Almost everything in the solar system revolves around the sun, just as the particles of an atom revolve around the nucleus.

The nucleus has a large mass compared to the other particles, just as the sun has the largest mass of anything in our solar system.

Most of our solar system is composed of empty space, just as most of an atom is composed of space between particles.

The planets that revolve around the sun are similar to electrons that revolve around the nucleus of an atom.

Did you find any other similarities?
